Most of your links will be valued as people discover content on your site or read your blog. Google still supports your promotion until you feel that you are cheating and Google understands that you’d like to let others know about the hard work you’ve put into your content. To effectively promote your content, it is important to connect with people who are interested in your articles. Effectively promoting your new content will lead to faster discovery by those who are interested in the same subject.

Be unique and recognizable

A blog post on your own site letting your visitor base know that you added something new is a great way to get the word out about new content or services.

Write more, but I try to write only when you really have something to say, not just to write. Adapt your writing to people and not for search engines. Pay attention to grammar and try to write a cohesive content that will be helpful to your readers.

Putting effort into the offline promotion of your company or site can also be rewarding. For example, if you have a business site, make sure its URL is listed on your business cards, letterhead, posters, etc. You could also send out recurring newsletters to clients through the mail letting them know about new content on the company’s website.

If you run a local business, adding its information to Google Places will help you reach customers on Google Maps and web search.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Get to know as much as possible with social media sites because they are very useful for grouping people with similar interests. Nowadays there are so many opportunities for promotion through social media sites, and one of the biggest advantages is that it is all for free. With the proper use of social media, you can get free publicity or advertisement for very little money.

Chances are, there are a number of sites that cover topic areas similar to yours. Opening up communication with these sites is usually beneficial. Hot topics in your niche or community could spark additional ideas for content or building a good community resource.

Avoid spamming, ie.do not  publish your links on sites that are outside of your topic. Also, do not buy links from other sites, as they will not lead to an increase of  traffic.
